What a typical job looks like
A maintenance team needs forty 1/2 in UHMW wear strips, 3 in × 48 in, to rebuild a conveyor guide rail. They pick UHMW, enter the strip size and quantity, note countersunk holes every 12 in, slotted lengthwise for expansion, and attach the sketch as a PDF. Sales answers the next business day, and the cut tolerance, hole pattern and lead time are confirmed on the quote.
Typical applications
- Wear strips and liners for conveyors and chutes
- Machine guards and sight windows in polycarbonate
- Fixture nests, spacers and pads
- Electrical insulating plates, barriers and terminal boards in G-10 or FR-4
- Food-zone parts and cutting surfaces, in food-contact grades confirmed on the quote
- Replacement panels and covers
Common questions about Cut-to-Size Plastic Sheet
What do I need to send for a cut-to-size quote?
The material, thickness, width and length of each piece, and the quantity. For anything other than a rectangle, attach a drawing (PDF, DXF, DWG or STEP). Add the tolerance you need and any certification, and a person answers within 1 business day.
What tolerance can you hold on cut plastic?
It depends on the material, the thickness and how the piece is cut. Most plastics move with temperature far more than metal does, and nylon also swells as it absorbs moisture. Tell us the tolerance your part needs and it is confirmed on the quote. For tight tolerances, ask for machined blanks.
Can you cut shapes, not just rectangles?
Yes. Attach a drawing with the profile, holes and radii, and we quote the finished shape rather than a blank you have to cut yourself.
Which plastic should I choose?
UHMW for sliding wear and impact. Acetal for precise machined parts. Nylon for strength in dry service. Polycarbonate for tough clear guards, acrylic for clear covers that do not take impact, and PTFE for chemicals and heat. PEEK for strength at high temperature, and G-10 or FR-4 for rigid electrical insulation (FR-4 when flame retardance is required). Not sure? Describe the job in the notes and we will recommend one on the quote.
Is there a minimum order?
Ask for the quantity you need, even a single piece. Any minimum that applies to a material or thickness is stated on the quote.
